Electrifying import McKines to bolster Governors' Cup campaign of Alaska

MANILA - The newly-crowned Commissioner's Cup champion Alaska Aces will parade an electrifying import in the person of Wendell McKines in the third conference.

Coach Luigi Trillo describes the import as an exact opposite of his soft-spoken Commissioner’s Cup reinforcement Robert Dozier.

“Robert is more quiet, more mellow. This guy (McKines) is more like Calvin Abueva and Gabby Espinas. There’s a lot of fire,” said Trillo. “We’re happy to have him.”

Video highlights of McKines show an aggressive, hard-slamming wingman with deadly perimeter shooting.

McKines is fresh from a successful stint in the French League, where according to Trillo, ‘averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.’

The former New Mexico stalwart plays the 4 and 5 spots, exactly what the Aces need.

“Plus he is an 80% freethrow shooter. We’ll need that,” said Trillo who is expecting another important performance from his import in the season-ending tourney.

McKines is due to arrive on the second week of July, or a few days before the Aces return from a short vacation in California where team owner Wilfred Uytengsu will treat his team and their families to Disneyland.
